My wife and I built a fire in our new Tennessee fireplace yesterday and marveled how such was forbidden in our former California home.  My wife asked why, and I started explaining about particulate matter – the typical air quality regs – but then the trial balloon banning of gas stoves came to mind and I responded with “because climate change – fire bad.”  That’s where we are right now, no nuance, no subtlety, no actual thought, just “fire bad.”
