Memphis police will likely release the body camera video and other video evidence in the death of Tyre Nichols. Five police officers are accused of beating him to death after a traffic stop. The World Health Organization will vote today on whether to declare that the COVID-19 pandemic is over. The decision will be announced on Monday but already many experts, including the head of the WHO, say it is too soon, and that the pandemic is still unfolding.

In another sign that governments are moving on from the pandemic, COVID-era SNAP benefits that help needy Americans buy food will end in a month. The AARP says seniors will feel the effects most. The end of the enhanced benefits coincides with rising food prices.

Scientists say the core of the earth is not spinning as fast as it once did, and it could even reverse direction, which does not sound like good news — except it probably is not bad news. It seems as though it is normal and happens every 70 decades or so. But then again, scientists say they are just guessing and do not have a ton of evidence about what is going on. You might as well worry about something else because it appears that you cannot influence the spin rate or direction. As my wife says, “Get over it.”
