You may know me as the woman who brings a whiteboard to congressional hearings to break down the math behind Wall Street’s corruption and Big Oil’s greed.

But today, my whiteboard has an exciting update…

I don’t look, live, or talk like most members of Congress. Instead of attending swanky fundraisers with corporate lobbyists, I’m one of a dozen members of the House who rejects all contributions from corporate PACs and federal lobbyists. I’m a single mom of three school-aged kids who drives a minivan, and I’ve spent my career taking on special interests and delivering for working people. And I’m running for the Senate because Californians deserve a warrior fighting for them in Washington.

California has a unique system where the top two vote-getters in the statewide primary (regardless of party) advance to the general. So while there are plenty of unknowns in this race, we do know we need to build a robust campaign that reaches Californians from all walks of life. I want our campaign to show people how corporate CEOs and their friends in government are rigging the rules against working people, and then explain to voters how we’re going to fix it.

As my friend, mentor, and former law professor Elizabeth Warren taught me: nobody gets elected alone. This isn’t BS — thousands of supporters chipping in $10 or $20 are the only reason I was able to win three competitive House races and compete with nearly ten million dollars in Republican super PAC spending this past year.
