Team,
In a few days, my time as AZ Dems Chair is up. But as things wind down, I wanted to reach out to our grassroots team one more time.
First off, let me say THANK YOU. Without supporters like you, we would not have had the success we had in 2022. A Democratic statewide trifecta – Governor, Attorney General and Secretary of State had not been accomplished since the 1970s, until now.
We re-elected Senator Mark Kelly as well, and, despite new district lines, maintained our standing in the state legislature with just one seat away from gaining control of either chamber.
As you probably know, serving in the state legislature is my other job while also chairing the state party. My colleagues have honored me by electing me as leader of our State Senate caucus, and in fairness to everyone, I’m stepping down as state party chair.
I have watched as our team – you included – has taken Arizona from a deep red state to one that is purple, and quickly turning blue. Which is why I wanted to reach out one more time before I step down as chair.
This work is hard, and it takes a lot of effort and a lot of resources. But I want to make sure this team knows the work isn’t over. We need a Democratic legislature to work with Governor Hobbs and our other statewide elected Democrats. We need to win back a few Congressional seats. And we need to start all of that work right now.
Team, while my titles are changing, my dedication to building a better Arizona is not. I hope your dedication to that shared goal doesn’t change either.
