Power the Vote is launching Blue Texas
to fight + fund everywhere!

On Inauguration Day (almost exactly two years ago!), Kim was driving down a Texas highway in her blue Mazda when she first dreamed of creating a voter protection program that was as successful as the one she’d just helped lead in Georgia. But in her dream, this one would be different.
It would be permanent. Part of the infrastructure, not part of a political cycle.
Watching his Facebook friends duke it out in the early morning hours of November 2016 (“It’s Hillary’s fault!” “No! It’s Bernie’s fault!”), Jonathan dreamed of a way to help Democrats work together, starting immediately, to defeat MAGA. In his dream, it would decouple fundraising from candidates and recenter it on the grassroots community.
It would be permanent. Part of the infrastructure, not part of a political cycle.
Kim muscled her dream into reality, helping to build and support the first 24-7-365 voter protection program in Texas. (That’s Power the Vote!)
And since 2016, Jonathan’s revolutionized campaign finance by creating evergreen communities of grassroots monthly subscribers that fund federal and state legislative races.
And then, a few months ago, Kim and Jonathan met to catch up.
And … BOOM .
Jonathan told Kim that his work proved that fielding and funding candidates increased both voter turnout and vote share.
Kim told Jonathan that the permanent voter protection program she helped build in Texas had improved Democratic “cure” rates so much that Republican voter suppression bills were now suppressing more Republican than Democratic votes. (Karmic justice, eh?)
And they realized.
While each of their projects were potent on their own … merging them into one project that protected voters and supported Democratic state legislative nominees would be stunning.
So that’s what they did. And that’s how Blue Texas was born.
See, Texas Republicans’ strategy uses gerrymandering and voter suppression to make you think your vote doesn’t matter – which keeps you from the polls. Blue Texas fights back by making sure Democrats running for Texas state legislature have resources to fight – no matter how red or gerrymandered the district is. But we don’t just give you someone to vote for. We make sure your vote is counted, by supporting permanent voter protection programs that build strength over time.
Blue Texas is radical because it tackles two of Texas Democrats’ biggest problems – at the same time.
