Friend,

In case you missed it: Earlier this month, during the spectacle that was the
House's 15-round vote for the Speakership , Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) caved to the demands of the far-right extremist
arm of his party.

As one of their first acts, the House GOP tried introducing legislation that
would give the DHS Secretary the power to block entry for migrants at “their
discretion,” a power that could undoubtedly be abused in an anti-immigrant
administration.

Though their first attempt stalled, we know that the GOP will stop at nothing to
harm immigrant communities. This bill was blatantly xenophobic, extremist, and
had no chance of passing the Senate. Not even a month in office, the GOP is
already wasting time bringing forward legislation that is only paying lip
service to the special interest groups propping up their campaigns.

Despite voters overwhelmingly rejecting Trumpism and the radical anti-immigrant,
anti-democratic platform in the 2022 midterms, from day one the GOP has shown
what we all know: they do not fight for our country’s values and do not represent the will of the
people.

That’s why we’re asking, friend: will you add a donation
today before our end-of-month fundraising deadline next Tuesday, January 31?
Candidates are already announcing their plans to run in 2024, and we want to
ensure we have the resources to help elect more leaders who actually represent
our communities and who will move us forward in our fight for immigrants’
rights.

[[link removed]] ANOTHER AMOUNT
[[link removed]]We have our work cut out for us over the next two years with the GOP in control
of the House, and it’s going to be up to the Democratic majority in the Senate
to remain united and block whatever extreme bills they pass in the House.

While the GOP wages their war on people of color, women, LGBTQ communities,
immigrants, and other marginalized communities, we are working to ensure we take
back the House in 2024 and keep the Senate Democrats’ majority.

We must lay the groundwork now to ensure the GOP does not maintain or increase
their hold in our government. Help us root out extremism in Washington and add a
donation of any amount before our end-of-January fundraising deadline >>>
