Dear John,
I’m just getting back from Capitol Hill where I spoke [[link removed]] alongside allied community organizations and Members of Congress like Reps. Judy Chu and Rashida Tlaib on the sixth anniversary of Trump’s Muslim Ban.

I shared that many Iranian Americans right now are focused on what’s happening inside Iran and the protests for freedom against an authoritarian government, and how one of the most impactful things we can do is to protect at-risk Iranians by granting them refugee status and visas.
Thankfully, President Biden repealed Trump’s ban on visas for Iranians on day one of his presidency, but Iranians are still experiencing incredibly long visa processing times and more must be done to redress the lingering damage of the ban.
I also discussed how there are Trump copycats and wannabes like Texas Governor Greg Abbott pushing [[link removed]] for nativist policies to restrict the rights of Iranian refugees and immigrants. It is vital that our communities continue the fight to stand up against this horrifying trend in our politics.
This is a time when the U.S. should be expediting visas and refugee status for Iranians who are at risk for protesting their government. Today, on the sixth anniversary of the Muslim Ban first being implemented, tell Congress [[link removed]] to allow Iranians, especially those whose lives are at risk, to be granted visas and refugee status. There is no time to waste.
