Women’s March is leading the fight.
John —
The repeal of Roe v. Wade was just the beginning of anti-choicers’ fight to END abortion access in America. While Republican-controlled states seek further limitations to reproductive freedom, activists across the country are fighting back to protect abortion access in their communities.
John, Women’s March is leading the fight to secure abortion access nationwide, but we know that there’s a long, hard road ahead.
As a 100%-grassroots funded organization, we count on supporters like you to power our critical work. Support our efforts (and fight back against anti-freedom abortion bans) with your first $5 donation right now >>>
Upcoming election to watch:
- Wisconsin has the opportunity to elect a liberal Supreme Court justice in a critical upcoming election. If we are successful, the Court could take substantive action to secure abortion rights in the state.
Here’s what we’re up against:
- In Arizona, a judge recently struck down the right to seek an abortion based upon a fetal abnormality, and restrictive laws are preventing Arizona pharmacies from distributing medication abortion pills.
- In Texas, opponents of abortion sued to REVERSE the FDA’s longstanding approval of medication abortion. If their suit is successful, medication abortion could face an effective nationwide ban.
Here’s where we’re making progress:
- In Florida, Planned Parenthood and the ACLU are suing to overturn the state’s 15-week ban. Florida’s Supreme Court has agreed to hear the case.
- Maryland’s Democratic governor approved $3.5 million in funding to expand abortion care training in the state.
- New Mexico’s Democratic leaders are working to codify the right to abortion statewide and strike down local anti-abortion ordinances.
- New York lawmakers voted to codify the right to abortion care in the state constitution. The measure will now go before the voters for final approval in November 2024.
- Oregon’s Department of Justice teamed up with law firms to launch a hotline providing free legal advice to people seeking abortion care — including those out of state. New York and Delaware launched similar hotlines, but Oregon’s is critical for people in neighboring states where abortion is banned.
- The South Carolina Supreme Court ruled that a six-week abortion ban is unconstitutional.
- Virginia Democrats shut down the Republican governor’s attempt to ban abortion in the state after 15 weeks.
- Democratic leaders in Washington state have introduced a constitutional amendment to protect abortion.
We’ve proved over and over that WE are the majority, John — and we won’t back down when our rights are threatened.
But we can’t pretend that there isn’t a lot of hard work ahead of us. We’re counting on your immediate support to keep up the fight with so much on the line. Click here to give what you can.
