Good afternoon friends,
If it’s alright, I was hoping to take just a minute to introduce myself. My name is Julian Rogers and, as of this week, I’m serving as the vice chair of the Maine Democratic Party.
I decided to run for vice chair because Bev and I share a vision – a vision for a more prosperous, more equitable Maine, where everyone has a chance to succeed, regardless of their circumstances. Every Mainer deserves a seat at the table and, as a Democrat, I believe it’s our responsibility to help lift up those who are being left behind and maximize diversity, both within our government and within the Democratic Party. I hope you’ll join me in supporting local leaders of all ages, races, ability, gender, cultures, educational backgrounds, and economic status and fight for leadership that is truly representative of the Maine people.
Though I haven’t always lived in Maine, this state is home to me more than anywhere else I’ve ever lived. And the Democratic community here in Maine is really something special. I was lucky enough to serve as the chair of the Ogunquit Dems, vice chair of the York County Dems, and am currently finishing my term as the first-ever chair of the Maine Dems Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee. I am grateful and humbled that the State Committee selected me for this new role.
If you know me, you may have heard me say that, “Humans have two ears and only one mouth for a reason.” I’ve always tried my best to embrace that mentality – to be someone who listens twice as much as he speaks. I have had the opportunity to hear from so many Democrats these past weeks, but I intend to keep listening. Because I believe in a Democratic Party where everyone’s voice is heard.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Best,
Julian
