Hello,
January serves as a reminder that our work is far from over. Last year, we made historic strides to protect same-sex marriage, support children and families, lower the cost of prescription drugs, and invest in clean renewable energy. If we want to build upon the progress we’ve made thus far, we need to carry that momentum into this new Congress.
Although with some delay, this month marked the start of the 118th Congress. And while this is my seventh time being sworn in, this is the beginning of my first year as the Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
We kicked off the New Year by introducing the Small Business Tax Fairness and Compliance Simplification Act, which would help small businesses by improving the reporting of tip income and reducing the tax gap. This bipartisan legislation will support women-owned businesses and help expand the middle class.
We have made important strides in healthcare, thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law we passed last year. We expanded healthcare access to rural communities and helped improve health outcomes, keeping more money in taxpayers and patients' pockets.
We need our policy to be reflective of the times. Our healthcare system is becoming more digital and we need to create the infrastructure that provides equal access to healthcare for everyone in our communities.
I will continue to stand up and fight for progress for Washingtonians and all Americans.
Thank you,
Suzan DelBene
