After fleeing Venezuela, Anayol and Alfredo opened their own bakery in
Colombia with support from Mercy Corps.


In Colombia, we’re providing resources to families who are re-establishing
their lives after fleeing economic and political turmoil in Venezuela —
including Anayol, Alfredo, and their two boys.

With help from Mercy Corps, they received cash assistance and business
training, secured a new oven, mixer, and baking ingredients, and opened
the bakery of their dreams. They are building a new life while staying
connected to their history and heritage. Their bakery features recipes
from Anayol’s late mother, including her famous orange cake.
