Congressman Al Green’s Statement on the Findings of the January 6^th Committee

(Houston, TX) – On Thursday, January 26, 2023, Congressman Al Green released the following statement:

“The work of the committee has confirmed that which was obvious to objective observers. The committee confirmed that Donald Trump, President of the United States, engaged in an unprecedented insurrection against our country to prevent the peaceful transition of government. The President stated in a speech to his supporters after summoning them to our nation’s capital the incitive language, ‘We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.’ He also encouraged his supporters to take the fight to the Capitol building as President Biden’s election was being certified. Of the many factors motivating President Trump’s supporters, it was his weaponization of hate that instigated them to insurrect. The profound and preeminent issue now pending before our country that must be resolved is whether a president who incites an insurrection is above the law. I think not.”
