John, Believe it or not, January is already coming to a close, and with it comes our first fundraising deadline of 2023. Before I ask if you can chip in $10 or $25 toward our people-powered campaign, I hope you’ll let me explain why your contribution matters in this moment. You might be wondering why we’re already fundraising again, just two months after the 2022 election and three weeks since I was sworn-in to office. We used everything we fundraised last year to win this extremely competitive House race last November, with a margin of just 1,310 votes. Every dollar you contributed, we spent to win and flip this toss-up seat blue. Now, my far-right opponent Yvette Herrell has already filed to run against me in 2024, and you can bet she’s spending 100% of her time fundraising. I no longer have the same amount of time to commit to fundraising, since I’m focused on legislating and serving the people of NM-02 in Congress. But with our opponent already preparing for a 2024 rematch, we can’t afford to be caught flat-footed — we have to prepare, too!
