BREAKING NEWS: Council to approve discriminatory new faith school in Peterborough

First, thank you for all your support so far for our No More Faith Schools campaign, and particularly our local campaign to oppose a new Catholic faith school in Hampton Water, Peterborough.

Unfortunately, we've just learned that Peterborough City Council has issued a decision notice to approve the opening of the discriminatory new faith school, rather than an inclusive school for all. You can read more details on our website.

The story has been reported in the Peterborough Telegraph. Stephen Evans, CEO of the National Secular Society (which coordinates the No More Faith Schools campaign) is quoted.

The news is deeply disappointing for us, and for local residents. The new school will:

❌ Be unsuitable for most local families
❌ Explicitly promote religious beliefs
❌ Discriminate against pupils in admissions
❌ Teach RE from a Roman Catholic perspective
❌ Discriminate against teachers on religious grounds

We're now exploring the possibility of a legal challenge to the decision. Please keep on the look-out for further updates.
