Hello,
Last night, Governor Whitmer delivered her 2023 State of the State address where she laid out bold plans to move Michigan forward and tackle the biggest problems facing Michiganders right now.
Governor Whitmer is delivering on the promises she made with plans to lower costs for working families, make our state more competitive, protect every Michigander’s rights, and expand opportunities for all. If you haven’t already, watch a replay of Governor Whitmer’s State of the State address here.
Here’s a quick run down of the work our Governor is doing for us:
- Governor Whitmer announced her Lowering MI Costs plan to deliver pre-K for every child to save families $10,000 a year in childcare costs and ensure every kid in Michigan gets a great start. Her plan will also repeal the retirement tax and boost the Working Families Tax Credit to help Michiganders fight inflation.
- She laid out her plans to tackle gun violence in Michigan head-on with common sense reforms including universal background checks, safe storage laws, and protection orders.
- Governor Whitmer proposed legislation to repeal Michigan’s archaic 1931 abortion ban and expand the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act to protect the LGBTQ+ community.
- She proposed a Make it in Michigan package to bring new jobs to our state, help Michigan businesses compete, and bring our supply chains home.
I am proud to call that woman from Michigan our Governor because she is proving day after day that she’s ready to fight to tackle the biggest problems we face right now.
