Save the Date: Texas Independence Day Celebration, Feb. 25-26 [ [link removed] ]

Join Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site [ [link removed] ] for their annual two-day living history celebration on Saturday, February 25 and Sunday, February 26 to celebrate where 59 delegates bravely met in 1836 to make a formal declaration of independence from Mexico. The free event features live music, food, living history presentations, musket and cannon firings, kids? activities, and other commemorative programs. Experience an authentic Texas Army camp where visitors can wander freely among the tents to learn how the soldiers and their families experienced life in Texas in 1836.?

Interested in historic preservation? In-person registration is closed for the Real Places conference next week, but you can still attend virtually. The February 1-3 schedule includes 90+ expert speakers, more than 40 sessions, and lots of interesting activities. Virtual attendees can livestream all sessions, as well as get recordings for up to 60 days?so you don?t have to choose between concurrent sessions. Discover the story of one of the most powerful and influential politicians of the 20th century in his authentic 1916 home. Preserved as a period time capsule, the two-story home contains all original Rayburn furnishings. Visitors explore Rayburn?s personal life and political achievements.
