Hi John,
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau needs to know you oppose his undemocratic tax hikes.
If Trudeau thinks you don’t pay enough tax, then he should at least have the spine to vote on the tax hike.
In April, Trudeau’s alcohol taxes will automatically increase by 6.3 per cent. Taxes already make up half the price of alcohol. And Trudeau’s tax is going up without a single vote in Parliament. That’s wrong, and you need to send a message.
Trudeau and Liberal members of Parliament are meeting for a retreat on Saturday, Jan. 28. They’re meeting to talk political strategy. That means now is the perfect time to show these politicians that Canadians don’t support their undemocratic tax hikes.
Here’s how you can apply pressure with thousands of other fed-up taxpayers. The Canadian
Taxpayers Federation is asking our supporters to call Liberal Caucus Chair Brenda Shanahan’s office. We think Shanahan needs to hear what taxpayers think of undemocratic tax hikes.
You can tell Shanahan to back away from the 6.3 per cent tax hike. Just dial this number: 1-613-996-7265.
The Trudeau government imposed an automatic alcohol tax escalator in 2017. Every year the tax automatically increases with inflation. And politicians aren’t required to vote on the tax hike.
That’s wrong.
Politicians should never raise taxes without having a vote. You need to push back against this dangerous and anti-democratic tax hike.
Thanks for fighting for taxpayers – it’s making a difference!
Sincerely,
- Franco, Todd and the rest of the CTF team.
PS: It’s a good bet Shanahan’s voicemail will fill up quickly, but keep trying: 1-613-996-7265.
