Hello Friend,

Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.

Blocking Profits from Fetal Tissue

Image

One of the most concerning issues regarding the abortion industry is the for-profit sale of fetal remains to research institutions. While profiting from this practice is technically illegal, some abortion organizations use loopholes to make money indirectly. Pro-life or pro-choice, we should agree there shouldn't be a profit motive for the sale of fetal remains. That’s why I reintroduced the Prohibiting Abortion Industry's Lucrative Loopholes Act to close these loopholes once and for all. Click here to learn more about this legislation.

Reining in Government Bureaucracy

Image

Federal agencies have enormous power to create regulations in their areas of jurisdiction. Many are excessive and create a major burden on our economy. In its first year, the Biden White House added more than $200 billion in new regulatory costs. That's why I cosponsored the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, which would require every new major rule, costing $100 million or more, to be approved by the House and Senate before going into effect. With American taxpayers paying more than $2 trillion per year in regulation compliance costs, this bill could be a major boost for our economy. Click here to learn more.

Addressing the Border Crisis

Image

On Biden’s first day in office, he issued an executive order to halt construction of the border wall and end all deportations for 100 days. He ended countless other Trump-era policies, including the successful “Remain in Mexico” policy.  And last month, Customs and Border Protection had 251,487 migrant encounters at the Southwest border, which included 17 people on the FBI terror watch list. It’s past time for President Biden and the Department of Homeland Security to be held accountable for this disaster. The House will begin the critical oversight needed to get answers and push for strong border security.
