Hey there --
Today, Meta chose profit over safety by deciding to reinstate Donald Trump’s Facebook account.
Let me be clear: Meta has made an enormous mistake. Two years after Trump used Facebook to incite an insurrection, Meta is welcoming him back on Facebook despite breaking its promise to only reinstate his account if his presence on the platform no longer carried a threat of violence.
Meta’s decision reveals that empty promise for what it was –– another publicity stunt from a company more concerned with making money than with democracy, safety, or even internal consistency.
Help us hold Meta accountable for putting profits over users and our democracy. Now that Trump will be reinstated, there is even more work to do to keep disinformation and hate off of Facebook. Will you support this critical work by chipping in today? [[link removed]]

Trump has repeatedly used his own social media company, Truth Social, to fuel violence, spread election lies, and promote domestic terrorist organizations like QAnon. Our research found over 350 of his posts on Truth Social from last year would violate Facebook’s own safety guidelines. Trump continues to spew dangerous information online and Mark Zuckerberg just handed him back a megaphone to reach millions.
We’ve tracked Trump’s presence on social media platforms, and we’re not scared to continue calling out Meta for failing to protect our democracy. We’re a small nonprofit going up against some of the most powerful companies in the world. Help us fight back by chipping in to support our wok. [[link removed]]
We’ve witnessed the dangers of Trump’s presence on social media platforms, and reinstating his Facebook account puts American lives and our democracy at risk.
