SPEAK UP FOR ANIMALS ABUSED BY THE RODEO INDUSTRY!
Dear John,
The Los Angeles City Council is close to the final vote on the Rodeo Device Ban. Their vote is anticipated by the end of January. Your voice is needed now! Help the animals that suffer in rodeos by commenting on the L.A. City Council file. When passed, the Ordinance will stop the use of the torture devices (i.e.,bucking straps, electric prods, wire tie-downs) that force animals to perform at rodeo events.
TAKE ACTION: HELP PASS THE RODEO DEVICE BAN
Recently, the Los Angeles Equine Advisory Committee (LAEAC) published a letter of NON-SUPPORT for the Ban in the L.A. Times. It is the role of the LAEAC to advise the City on equine issues. Not surprising, research conducted by LCA found a bias in that one LAEAC representative owns a private ranch that hosts team roping events, including calf roping. Anyone with a heart knows it's wrong to tackle a baby animal, slam it to the ground and tie its legs together. If you did this to a puppy you would be charged with animal abuse.
TAKE ACTION: HELP PASS THE RODEO DEVICE BAN
The Rodeo Device Ban has an overwhelming 72% support among 600 L.A. voting residents who were polled. Late last year, the City Council’s Personnel, Audits, and Animal Welfare Committee agreed with the people of L.A. and passed the Ordinance. The next step is the City Council's final vote.
Thank you for taking action on behalf of the rodeo animals,
Lisa Beal
