Here are some updates from today.

The elections director of Cochise County, Arizona announced her resignation, citing the “outrageous and physically and emotionally threatening” working atmosphere. Cochise County was the center of controversy last year when its board of supervisors tried to push an illegal hand count of ballots; the director was personally sued by the GOP supervisors when she refused to execute the plan.

A majority of Arizona county recorders agreed that they will not purge voters under Arizona voter suppression laws House Bill 2492 and House Bill 2243 while litigation moves forward.

Failed Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake asked the Arizona Supreme Court to take over review of her lawsuit contesting her loss. This is the second time she’s made this request — we’ll see if she’s any luckier this round. In the meantime, her case is still before the Arizona Court of Appeals.

The U.S. Department of Justice asked to join a 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals oral argument about a Texas law that requires people who register to vote electronically to also submit a pen-on-paper version of their signature (known as a wet signature). A lower court found that it violates federal law and oral argument before the 5th Circuit is scheduled for March 6.
