Kia Ora John,

As Labour President, I was so thrilled to see Chris Hipkins sworn is as New Zealand's new Prime Minister yesterday. On behalf of all Labour's members and supporters, I want to pledge our aroha and support to Chippy, his fantastic new Deputy Prime Minister Carmel Sepuloni, the entire Ministerial and Caucus teams, and also their families, as they crack into the task of governing for all New Zealanders in 2023 and beyond.

I'm so proud of the mature, thoughtful, and united way our Labour team has handled this leadership transition. Our team's values, energy, and empathy have put New Zealand in the very best position through a time of potential uncertainty.

Thank you Chippy for stepping up to serve New Zealand in this role. Please know that as you take rudder and steer our waka, there are so, so many Labour members and supporters paddling with you.

Ngā mihi maioha,

Jill

PS - If you haven't signed Jacinda's thank you card yet, there's still time! The close-off is late today, so please do take the opportunity to express your thanks to Jacinda and her whānau. <[link removed]>
