Dear John,
We've told you about Nancy Abudu, the SPLC lawyer nominated to be a U.S. Circuit Court judge for the Eleventh Circuit. But there is another leftist activist put forth by the Biden Administration for a seat on the federal bench. Her name is Julie Rikelman, and she argued to uphold Roe in the historic Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization case at the Supreme Court.
Both nominees have clear records of leftist activism that preclude them from being fit to sit on the federal bench.
These nominees are expected to be voted on by the Senate Judiciary Committee as early as next week!
Will you take a moment right now to tell your senators to oppose Nancy Abudu and Julie Rikelman's nominations?
As we've said before, the SPLC, where Nancy Abudu serves as the Strategic Litigation Director, is a corrupt organization known for targeting its political opponents with its "hate group" label and dangerous rhetoric. Choosing to work for such an organization shows a lack of judgment and makes Abudu unsuitable for the federal bench.
Additionally, Abudu gave several troubling answers during her first confirmation hearing last year, such as refusing to squarely answer questions regarding how involved she was in her organization's abuse of the judicial process through judge-shopping (illegally selecting venues for cases in order to try to select a sympathetic judge). She has said that she supports the unconstitutional idea of "preclearance," which would require certain states to get approval from the Department of Justice before they can enact election integrity laws. She also supports changing the Senate rules and abolishing the filibuster in an attempt to unilaterally enact this federal power grab without bipartisan consensus. These radical positions and her failure to distance herself from the SPLC's dangerous rhetoric should disqualify her among fair-minded observers from having the capacity to serve on the bench as an impartial jurist.
Julie Rikelman is nominated to be a Circuit Court Judge for the First Circuit. She has a long history of radical pro-abortion advocacy. As recently as August 2022, she served as the Senior Director of U.S. Litigation for the Center for Reproductive Rights, an organization dedicated to establishing abortion as a "fundamental human right" and attacking pro-life laws and legislation across the United States. Before this, she was a "Blackmun Fellow" at this organization, a fellowship named after the Supreme Court justice who authored the decision in Roe v. Wade. Rikelman has also represented abortionists in court on several occasions, most recently in the Dobbs case. In this case, she argued against a Mississippi law protecting unborn life after 15 weeks gestation. She argued in favor of the radical abortion regime that Roe implemented, nationwide abortion through birth. She added that "...abortion has been critical to women's equal participation in society" and falsely asserted that most countries allow access to abortion up to the point of viability. Rikelman even went so far as to falsely claim that abortion has been a part of the American tradition from our country's founding, which (she said) was what had led the justices to reach their final decision in Roe.
Rikelman has consistently displayed the allegiance of an activist to the pro-abortion cause, mischaracterizing it as part of America's history and tradition, showing an improper understanding of established legal precedent and a disregard for the right to life as outlined in our nation's founding documents. She has advanced radical arguments in support of abortion-on-demand and led the U.S. litigation team for an organization dedicated to establishing abortion as a fundamental human right.
Both of these nominees have clear records of leftist, judicial activism that indicate that they would not be capable of acting as impartial jurists.
Send a message to your senators and ask them to oppose Nancy Abudu and Julie Rikelman's nominations!
Sincerely,
