Take Down Tobacco

John,

Meet Julia Choi! [[link removed]]

Julia, a high school sophomore from Torrance, California, is a big believer in the power of helping others. And her advocacy journey is off to an amazing start. Currently, she works alongside the AIRE (Advocates Invested in Restoring the Environment) Coalition and The California Youth Advocacy Network where she’s had the opportunity to speak with local policymakers about substance use in her community. Julia’s on a mission to lend a helping hand and passionately speak out for what she believes in!

Not only is she looking out for her peers and community, she’s also a phenomenal advocate as a Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids National Youth Ambassador. Outside of her advocacy work, she enjoys writing poetry with a creative twist and tutoring her peers.

"Don’t give up. Every voice matters. If you feel like you’re going to give up, then you should always talk to somebody about what your goals are to regain that passion!"

Our National Youth Ambassadors are high school students who have demonstrated leadership in fighting tobacco in their communities. These advocates are chosen annually as representatives of their state through a competitive application process. They receive training and participate in activities throughout the year. This profile series showcases their incredible work!

Look out for a new profile every other week.
