John,
In 2021, Virginia Democrats – myself included – were taken by surprise when we lost the governor’s mansion and the General Assembly to Republicans.
But it’s like I tell my daughter: A loss is a lesson.
So we spent the past year checking our notes, figuring out where we fell short, and rebuilding for success.
We’re refocusing on a few key areas: Expanding our media budget, recruiting top staff, and producing resonant, persuasive ads for TV and social media.
And our changes are already starting to pay off. Just a few weeks ago, they helped Democrat Aaron Rouse flip a GOP-held seat in the State Senate!
But to continue implementing these strategies, we need a reliable and robust grassroots fundraising network. And very soon, we’re going to hit a major roadblock that could jeopardize our entire plan to retake Richmond in November: The chronic “off-year” fundraising slump.
John, I always appreciate a good nautical metaphor, so I need to ask if you’ll throw us a life raft in this sink-or-swim moment.
Can we count on you to chip in a recurring monthly contribution of $10 to keep us afloat through Election Day?
With gratitude,
Elaine Luria
