As you know there have been a number of tragic mass shooting over the last few days.
So we wanted to talk to you about the role VoteVets plays in strengthening our gun laws.
The truth is, one of the big debates in Congress is whether weapons of war belong on our streets, much less in the hands of people who have no idea how to use them safely and responsibly.
The far-right will point to the military and say 18-year-olds can join and use these weapons.
Yes. But in the military, we are trained to handle these weapons and store them safely. Before we even fire at the range for the first time, there are safety classes and lessons on how to use these weapons responsibly. And we also re-qualify to use them annually.
We know better than anyone that these weapons aren’t toys. We aren’t safer or freer as a society when someone with little training is able to buy and use these weapons on the streets.
Our perspective matters in this debate. Just like it did when Congress passed the first major gun safety legislation in almost 30 years.
But we cannot do this alone. So we’re asking:
