😢 10 million dead and counting. Help us turn the tide.
Today is Day 3 of SPUC’s New Year Fundraising Appeal.
In case you missed it, I am re-sending my email from Monday.
It identifies the MOST URGENT THREATS to unborn babies in the UK: The insidious attempts of the pro-abortion fanatics to silence pro-lifers and make it impossible for us to help women in difficult situations.
A robust response to these horrific threats is urgently needed to combat:
1. MASSIVE abortion rates in the UK
2. Soaring rates of COERCION reported amongst women who have had abortions
3. The unprecedented AND GROWING suppression of freedom of expression and assembly in the UK
Read on to learn more and see what action SPUC will be taking – funds permitting – to defend unborn babies and their mothers in the face of the Abortion Empire.
Dear Pro-life Friend,
This month SPUC has staged its annual White Flower Appeal.
Every year, people ask why our church appeal is called “The White Flower Appeal."
The name was originally inspired by Hans and Sophie Scholl’s Weiße Rose (White Rose) movement.
The White Rose was a non-violent, intellectual resistance to the Nazi Government at the height of the Second World War in Germany.
The White Rose became known for its anonymous student leafleting campaign that lasted for 8 months between 1942 and 1943.
In February 1943, Hans and Sophie were caught and arrested. They were tried by the Gestapo and beheaded along with four others.
I can’t help wondering what Sophie and her friends would make of Parliament’s attempt to outlaw freedom of speech and assembly outside abortion facilities – along with the risk of prison sentences for anyone who breaks these draconian rules.
The main purpose of pro-life vigils outside clinics is to offer help for women who feel they have no other choices. Like Sophie Scholl and her friends, the only “crime” of those involved is to speak up publicly against a grave injustice.
And just like them, young British pro-lifers are discovering to their cost that the right to free speech is an extremely precarious one, which (in the minds of pro-abortion politicians) only applies if you are agreeing with the current narrative.
This is the future for the whole of the UK if the ambassadors of the evil Abortion Empire get their way.
But how are we supposed to help women or make abortion unthinkable if we are not even allowed to speak about abortion?
Intolerance on UK campuses is growing by the year.
Recently pro-life students have suffered public abuse or administrative difficulties at the universities at Exeter, Edinburgh, Oxford, Belfast, Glasgow, Cardiff and Newcastle.
In 2022, SPUC witnessed this abuse first hand, when SPUC team member Margaret Akers was invited to give a talk at Edinburgh University.
Less than 15 minutes into the talk, about 30 students came in, one with a megaphone in hand, quite literally demanding that the talk come to an end.
In the interests of safety, the talk was abandoned.
These disgraceful incidents show how emboldened the pro-abortion lobby is – and no wonder, when our parliament is doing their bidding and destroying free speech.
We recently saw a Commons vote to institute “censorship zones” around abortion clinics – and local councils are even banning the sign of the cross in the vicinity.
Unless we stop it now, this won’t be the last restriction on public prayer. The most extreme agents of the Abortion Empire want all churches shut down to stop the pro-life message from spreading.
Already, Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, a pro-life leader, has been charged with four counts of “breaching the exclusion zone” imposed by a local council near an abortion clinic. She will be appearing at the Magistrates’ Court on 2nd February.
And Adam Smith-Connor – an Army veteran – has been fined for the same ”crime”. He was praying silently for his son who was aborted over twenty years ago.
They killed his son, and now they want to stop him praying.
The evil is clear.
They are coming for US… and for YOU.
Will you help us stop them?

And what would White Rose members have to say about UK women being given pills to kill their babies?
What horror would they feel on realising that these mothers would be forced to dispose of their tiny dead bodies at home?
And on realising that this is a policy fully endorsed by the British government?
Official guidelines don’t even consider it necessary to provide women who abort their babies at home with proper medical supervision.
1-in-17 women are being hospitalised with complications following medical (pill) abortions according to Freedom of Information data from 85 NHS Trusts recovered by the Christian Concern group.
The Christian Concern data uncovered over 10,000 cases of post-abortive women needing treatment for "retained products of conception" (RPOC) since the government’s pills-by-post service began in March 2020.
Winston Churchill warned that if the Nazi’s won, the world would “sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science.”
This Dark Age is now here. And we must fight it like the White Rose did.
Abortion coercion was a Nazi strategy that according some studies now impacts around 10% of all women who have abortions in the UK.
DIY “home abortion” makes women much more vulnerable to coercion from abusive partners and family members. Since abortion pills have become available over the phone, women no longer have the opportunity to speak confidentially with any medical professional.
Nobody knows who might be standing in the background and exerting pressure on the women to whom they speak. It could be abusive parents, partners or even people-traffickers.
And sometimes abortion providers know what is going on and go ahead anyway. They just don’t care.
A dead baby and a wounded mother are the necessary consequences of their drive for profit
.
Last year SPUC agreed to support “Lydia,” a hugely courageous young woman who alleges that she was coerced into an abortion by an ex-partner and his family.
She says that her ex-partner’s aunt – a medical doctor – used false medical information to exert pressure.
Lydia tried to kill herself rather than go through with the abortion. But while the abortion provider knew this, they still went ahead with the procedure.
One of the most tragic parts of this story is that Lydia had previously been told that she would never be able to have a baby. The precious baby they coerced her into aborting may have been the only child she will ever conceive.
Lydia is overwhelmed with gratitude that SPUC supporters are helping her. She said that if she knew about organisations like SPUC at the time, then her baby would be with her today.
In light of all this, what would Sophie and Hans Scholl say about such disgusting and reprehensible comments made in a letter to a Scottish newspaper, suggesting that coerced abortion is a myth?
Tell that to Lydia, Gemma. Or to Hayley. Or to Ellie.
Or to the countless other women whose lives SPUC help to put back together, after they have been through the machine of this ideology.
Will you help us today, so that we can fight to protect our precious unborn children?

January is always a critical month for SPUC’s work.
It determines how much funding will be available throughout the course of the year to help save unborn babies.
Our New Year appeal GOAL is £100,000.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if every supporter receiving my email today donated a few pounds so we could push back against the wicked Abortion Empire?
If you missed the White Flower Appeal, or are not a church-goer, or you do not come across the Appeal at your church – or if you want to contribute again anyway – then you can still DONATE to help babies HERE.

No donation is ever too small (or too big)
Every penny we receive during the month of January is vital – it moves us a step closer to making abortion unthinkable.
The threats I have outlined are URGENT –
if we do not fight against them, BABIES WILL DIE.
Will you consider donating £25 today to save a precious life?

Gifts of this size are urgently needed.
You may possibly be in a position to contribute a larger gift of £50 - £100 - £500 - £1,000 or more?
No matter what the size, EVERY gift that we receive this month will give unborn children the strong VOICE that they deserve… in Parliament, in the mainstream media, on social media platforms, in our schools, and in places of worship across the UK.
The more funds that can be raised in January, the more lives can be saved over the course of 2023.
Thank you for your kindness and for your love for our babies.

Yours in defence of life,
John Deighan
Chief Executive Officer
PS –
The White Rose movement serves as a remarkable example of what can be achieved by standing up peacefully for what is right, even in the face of outright hostility and suppression.
Indeed, like the White Rose group, SPUC is fighting for a moral and political cause that is unpopular – even despised.
I’m sure that people would have told Sophie Scholl and her friends that what they had set out to achieve was impossible – even “
unthinkable.”
But in the end, they won.
They achieved the unthinkable.
Against all the odds.
So can we.
DONATE TODAY to our White Flower Appeal, if you can.
