We have a problem, team: Gerrymandering in Texas helped the GOP win four extra House seats. In a year when the majority in the House of Representatives was decided by just five seats, that kind of margin is huge.

We have been working for seven years to end gerrymandering, and our strategy is getting results.

Our grassroots movement helped secure what The New York Times called the “fairest map in 40 years” for the United States House of Representatives. As a result, Democrats were able to compete in fair races and win in states like Colorado, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and more.

Republicans in states like Texas rely on map manipulation to win elections. But as Attorney General Eric Holder so aptly put it, our work has helped prove that, “Unlike Republicans, Democrats don’t need to gerrymander to win.”

Instead, we need to keep on fighting for fairness, team.

In 2023, we plan to replicate our proven strategy of fighting for fair maps, supporting plaintiffs in lawsuits, and protecting voting rights across the country – and we won’t rest until we’ve secured a level playing field in every single state.
