The problem we have in America is that we have a major political party that is not willing to do the common sense things that would make us safer. They are content and complicit in a status quo that makes this nation unique among industrialized countries that don’t have this regular routine horror. That don’t live in a reality where their children have more active shooter drills than fire drills. A reality where you give a hug goodbye to a family member going to a concert, going to church, going to a classroom, and have in the back of your mind this horror and this worry. It’s not a matter of getting on the same page to do something about it. It’s a matter of Republican leadership that lacks the will. More people in America have died in my lifetime from gun violence than in every single one of our wars — from the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, the World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, and wars in the Middle East — combined. It is a dereliction of duty. It is a surrender to violence. It is a refusal to do their Constitutional duty to defend this nation.
Thanks for speaking up. With love and gratitude, Cory |
