Friend,

My name is Representative James Talarico.

Before I was a lawmaker, I was a public school teacher. I struggled to make ends meet, so I know firsthand the challenges our teachers face in the classroom.

We ask so much from our teachers -- now they’re the latest target in the culture wars and face accusations of indoctrinating, grooming, and abusing children.

Teachers are getting it from all sides. They deserve better.

Today, I was joined by Democratic colleagues, teachers, and public education groups from across the state to announce House Bill 1548, providing Texas teachers with a $15,000 raise -- the largest pay bump in Texas history. Sign the petition showing your support!

Now is the time for bold action, Friend. Our state government has a $47 billion surplus. We can give every teacher a $15,000 raise and still have more than HALF the surplus left over.

In Texas, teacher salaries are $7,500 behind the national average -- putting us in the bottom half of states. My bill would make Texas the 7th highest state in teacher pay.

Help us pass House Bill 1548. Call your legislator today and demand a $15,000 teacher pay raise -- and sign the petition.

In Texas, we go big or go home. Let’s go big on teacher pay.

Thank you for your support,

Representative James Talarico
