Dear John,
Are you sick of the bitter, divisive attack ads that dominate the airwaves every election season?
Are you tired of constantly feeling like you have to vote for the “lesser of two evils"?
Do you love cute pets?
Then you’ll want to watch our latest video, which explains how implementing Ranked-Choice Voting could change our elections for the better, and features Inequality Media’s pets to showcase how it all works.
Believe it or not, Ranked-Choice Voting (RCV) is a simple reform we can enact to make elections more bearable for voters — and yield better, more diverse candidates in the process.
When you head to the ballot box under RCV, instead of voting for just one candidate, you have the option to rank candidates in order of preference: first, second, third and so on.
With potential second-choice votes up for grabs, there's an incentive for candidates to appeal to as many voters as possible – not just those within their own political party.
This leads to candidates running better, more inclusive campaigns. Since there’s less of a need to attack whoever they’re running against, candidates can focus on what really matters: addressing the needs of voters.
As you’ll learn from our video, RCV can make our government more inclusive and responsive to what people actually want. There are a whole host of other benefits for voters as well.
Ultimately, there’s a reason why RCV is sweeping the nation — it’s currently being used by 13 million voters across the country.
Perhaps you can organize to make Ranked-Choice Voting a reality where you live?
Thanks for watching,
Robert Reich
