Hi Jack,
I’ll bet you could use some good news right now. After the ups and downs of 2022, you might be wondering what the future looks like in North Carolina. How will we keep moving forward when so many of the wrong people are in power? What will happen to women? The working poor? Our democracy?
Jack, I’ll be bold and address the elephant in the room: why didn’t more of North Carolina’s people of color show up at the polls? The answer is simple. They need to believe that we will help them meet their needs, and that the rewards of power will include them. Continuing to promise tomorrow is not enough. We need to deliver today.
PITCH IN $5 FOR THE NEW NORTH CAROLINA PROJECTThat’s why I am thrilled to announce The BIPOC Proclamation. The four pillars of the proclamation - economic mobility, housing security, public safety reform, and civic engagement - provide a rock-solid foundation for strong communities. By helping North Carolina’s people of color stake their claim to homes, safety, justice and prosperity in our state, we’re ensuring that they have something to fight -and vote - for.
This is our chance to show North Carolina’s most vulnerable people that we really do hear them and care. The pillars of the BIPOC Proclamation reflect what they told us, in over 60,000 face-to-face conversations, would make it worthwhile for them to vote.
With the assurance that we’re moving on the issues they care about, and the untapped community potential we’re unleashing with our innovative programs, progress is inevitable. Jack, we already know you’re the kind of bold movement partner who “gets it.” Now we need you to be part of the solution with us.
