John, welcome to Breast Cancer Action!
Thank you so much for joining us in our work to achieve health justice for all women at risk of and living with breast cancer.
If you're anything like us, you get a lot of emails, so we wanted to let you know what Breast Cancer Action is all about, and what you can expect from us.
Breast Cancer Action has never been your typical breast cancer organization. We are the only organization in the U.S. that addresses the breast cancer epidemic at the crossroads of breast cancer, the environment, social justice, and feminism. And we have a strict conflicts of interest policy: we do not take corporate funding from any company that profits from or contributes to breast cancer. Our independence means we can always put women's health first.
Here's what you'll see from us in your inbox:
Action alerts: We'll send you updates about the advocacy work we're doing together, and give you opportunities to take action and make change in the world. We do our best not to bombard your inbox, so when you see a message from us, you know it's important.
Webinars: We offer free webinars that cover a range of topics, from environmental links to breast cancer, to breast cancer screening and overdiagnosis, to the patenting of the "breast cancer genes." Our members tell us they love these webinars, which provide information about breast cancer they don't get anywhere else.
Events: We'll let you know about opportunities to join us in person. You'll receive invitations to film screenings, fundraising events, and opportunities for on-the-ground activism—we hope to meet you in person soon.
Grassroots Fundraising: Over 65% of our funding comes from our members, people just like you. We ask our members to support our work financially twice a year: once in the spring and once at the end of the calendar year.
We're so glad you've joined the Breast Cancer Action community. If you're on social media, be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for regular updates.
Best wishes from all of us here at Breast Cancer Action!
