Friend, last year, The Trevor Project tracked a record number of anti-LGBTQ bills introduced across the country. In the first month of 2023 alone, more than 225 anti-LGBTQ bills have been pre-filled, or introduced. Now, more than ever, it is important for all of us to speak up and advocate for the rights of LGBTQ young people.

These policies have an affect beyond the political landscape – 71% of LGBTQ young people reported that they have negatively impacted their mental health. As a result of anti-LGBTQ policies and debates in the last year, transgender and nonbinary youth reported that they have had a range of harmful experiences, including cyberbullying or online harassment (45%) and, 1 in 3 reported not feeling safe going to the doctor or hospital when sick or injured due to policies targeting gender-affirming care.
