Registration is now open for the *MI Healthy Climate Conference [ [link removed] ]*, taking place April 11-12, 2023, at the Huntington Place in Detroit!

Michigan faces real and costly impacts from climate change. But climate action also presents opportunities to improve health outcomes, advance justice, and grow Michigan’s economy. In 2020, Governor Whitmer committed Michigan to carbon neutrality by 2050 and in April 2022 released the MI Healthy Climate Plan [ [link removed] ] to chart Michigan’s path forward. Hundreds of Michiganders contributed thousands of hours of research, reflection, and conversation to create a plan that will protect our public health and the environment and help develop new clean energy jobs.

It will take concerted effort from all Michiganders to realize the Plan. Fortunately, many of our communities, businesses, and institutions have already stepped up and are pioneering innovative solutions to build upon. The State of Michigan, through the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, is organizing this day and a half conference to bring together and mobilize engaged stakeholders, community and business leaders, advocates, and other partners to implement the key actions in the MI Healthy Climate Plan.

On day one, attendees will hear from thought leaders and experts on the urgency to act and the opportunity we have to create a healthier, more just, and carbon-neutral Michigan. A networking reception will take place that evening at the IBEW Local 58 Zero Net Energy Center [ [link removed] ]. Day two breakout sessions will provide opportunities for deep-dive conversations, information sharing, and ample time for building new collaborations – all toward achieving the objectives of the MI Healthy Climate Plan laid out in the *six priority actions of the Plan*:

* Commit to environmental justice and pursue the just transition.
* Clean the electric grid.
* Electrify vehicles and increase public transit.
* Repair and decarbonize homes and businesses.
* Drive clean innovation in industry.
* Protect Michigan’s land and water.
