Friend, the first 100 days of a new congress will set the tone for the next two years. And now that we are in a divided government situation, I think it's particularly important that Democrats are united in our goals and priorities.

We all watched the House open with four days of chaos as Republican lawmakers took 15 votes just to confirm a speaker. Unfortunately, I believe this is just the beginning of two years of inefficiency, hyperpartisanship and obstruction – which makes the work of our Democratic Senate majority that much more important.
