Why we are 350: Scientists overwhelmingly agree that 350ppm CO2 is the upper limit to sustain life as humans have known it. For 800,000+ years atmospheric CO2 varied between roughly 180 to 280ppm. Global temperatures also rose and declined (ice ages) with the change in CO2 levels over that period. Now we're in the 420ppm range and headed straight up. - Latest Values

From 350,
Fax the Fed: Act on the climate crisis NOW!
The Federal Reserve Chair, Chairman Powell, announced that the Federal Reserve System will “stick to its knitting” and not be a “climate policymaker.” Yet the Board of the US Federal Reserve System — the referee of the US economy — is supposed to protect the U.S. economy from financial risk, including climate change.
The Fed has asked for public input on their recommendations for protecting our economy from the climate crisis, and we need to make sure they hear our demands loud and clear.
We want to thank everyone who has already emailed the Fed with their comments on this! We’re now calling on you to flood them with faxes to demand that they take immediate steps to promote investment in the transition to a clean, just, renewable economy.
That’s where faxes (and you) come in.

From Ruby Burgess, 350WI Divest and Defund team,
Do you bank with Chase, Wells Fargo, Bank of America or Citibank?
Virtual training on Monday, January 30th, 7pm
I do – I bank with Chase and have done so for 4 years. And I recently learned that these four banks are the world’s largest funders of fossil fuels.
As someone extremely concerned about climate change, I was alarmed to learn that my bank contributes so much to the horrendous climate impacts of fossil fuels that we’re seeing around the world.
That’s why I’m working with 350 Wisconsin to host a local virtual training on January 30th at 7pm to teach bank customers how to advocate for climate justice.
Will you join me and a group of bank customers in Madison and beyond in taking action? The first step is to attend a training session aimed at supporting folks in meeting with branch managers at their local bank branch.
You’ll not be doing this alone. At this training, you’ll meet a community of other customers who are interested in taking action. You’ll get all the skills you need to take action. You’ll also hear from me and other customers about their own experience meeting with their branch managers.
You can register here to get the Zoom link to the training: https://wisconsin-350.salsalabs.org/c4cj
We need bank employees on our side to win. Right now, banks are facing a serious staffing crisis. Banks are competing with each other to retain staff. They are doing all they can to be an appealing place to work. You know what makes banks not an appealing place to work? That they are the world’s largest funders of fossil fuels and deforestation the leading cause of the climate crisis.
Our banks claim to put their customers’ concerns as their top priority. As customers, we can demand that our banks take action to stop funding climate chaos and make climate action a priority.
Again, if interested, you can register here: https://wisconsin-350.salsalabs.org/c4cj
