Almost 70% of US manufacturing leaders have temporarily put the brakes on sustainability efforts because of inflation's cost increases, according to a Visual Components survey, but Bain & Co. believes such companies ultimately will "lose the hearts and pockets of customers." Although many sustainability actions don't affect profit margins, IT analyst Mary Ann Richardson of technology research firm CMR Executive Advisory has five suggestions to make sure firms can reconcile profit and sustainability.

"When the team works together to create a healthy norm, it's more likely to come to fruition, and everyone benefits," Safeer writes.
