Friend,
While I'm probably not allowed to call myself a Philadelphian yet (I've only lived here for 15 years), I love this city. I've chosen to raise a family and build a life here.
But as gun violence has claimed the lives of 1,000 residents in just two years, for to many of us it often doesn't feel safe to raise a family...go to work...or even walk down the street.
This crisis is the first priority for Philadelphia's next mayor because if we don't feel safe and if we aren't actually safe, nothing else matters. That's why we're partnering with WHYY and Billy Penn for a mayoral forum on how the candidates will restore safety to our city.
Sign up now to become one of the first to learn how you can watch the forum.
The event is part of “Every Voice, Every Vote,” a collaborative project managed by The Lenfest Institute for Journalism with funding from the William Penn Foundation. Through their support, we're shaping the discussion through community listening sessions in heavily impacted neighborhoods. Our team is talking to experts to learn what isn't working--and how to fix it.
Then candidates will share a stage as moderators ask questions designed to help the public differentiate among various tactics, strategies and approaches to solving the crisis and restoring safety in Philadelphia.
We get to pick our next Mayor--let's make sure it's the one who will make us safe.
Sincerely,
Adam Garber
