** Power Shift: An investigation
------------------------------------------------------------
In recent decades, leadership at Pittsburgh’s major institutions was pretty stable. Then came 2020.

First UPMC’s Jeff Romoff retired. Then Bill Peduto was voted out of the mayor’s office. The Heinz Endowments’ Grant Oliphant moved on. That’s just the tip of the iceberg of a massive power shift in the Pittsburgh region that continues even today. The wave of changes at the executive level are likely to reverberate for decades.

In our new special project, produced in partnership with Pittsburgh Magazine, we work to explain and dissect the impacts of shifts across several sectors in our city. Read the stories now ([link removed]) , and keep an eye out for upcoming installments.

“I think with this transition comes opportunity. We have an opportunity to build new diversified power that is representational of the city’s economic realities and social realities and we can position these authorities to begin to think through the next 100 years.”

— Diamonte Walker
