John,
The dangers of highly toxic chemicals known as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) has been all over the news lately.
We’re learning that nearly every freshwater fish across the country contains dangerous levels of PFOA (a type of PFAS) – often exceeding 8,000 parts per trillion. To put that number in perspective, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recommended the allowable level of PFOA in drinking water be lowered to 0.02 parts per trillion.
Freshwater fish are contaminated with “forever chemicals” to such an extent that consuming just one fish could cause a measurable increase of PFAS in your bloodstream. A new lawsuit also reports alarming levels of PFAS in supposedly “all-natural” orange juice.
PFAS can cause numerous health issues including birth defects, thyroid disease, weakened immunity, liver problems and certain cancers.
Last year, the big chemical industry spent millions of dollars lobbying Congress to defeat more than 50 bills aimed at stopping the harm of PFAS. Draft regulations for PFOA and PFOS have been delayed by months. We need the Biden administration to act more decisively.
As PFAS contamination grows across the country, it's critical for the federal government to act. President Biden must regulate forever chemicals!
Send a message urging President Biden to step in and regulate PFAS chemicals in order to protect people's health and drinking water.

Take Action

The corporations that make PFAS including 3M and Dupont have known about these dangers for decades; they tried to hide the science about the risks to our health, and continue to spend millions of dollars lobbying against regulations. We can’t let the corporate lobbyists win while PFAS slowly poisons the country.
It’s time to stop the unnecessary production and use of PFAS, remove the entire class of these chemicals from our drinking water with enforceable regulations that are set as low to zero as possible, and ensure the biggest polluters are held accountable for cleaning up their rampant contamination!
Take action today: Urge President Biden to ban PFAS chemicals and hold polluting companies responsible.
