Friend – This past weekend, billionaires and Big Business celebrated the 13th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling.

Over the past 13 years, we’ve seen the damage that billions of dollars in dark money spending has done to our democracy:

• Spending on federal, state and local elections has exploded, with an estimated $16.7 billion spent on the 2022 elections;
• The ultra-wealthy — people like Trump ally Peter Thiel and cryptocurrency mastermind Sam Bankman-Fried — wield enormous power, spending big to prop up their chosen candidates in primaries and push their own agendas;
• Super PACs are brazenly ignoring campaign finance laws, and corporations are using secretive entities to hide their political spending and even bribe politicians;
• And foreign powers are making use of the gaps in our laws to spend money to influence our elections.

It’s far past time to overturn the Supreme Court’s dangerous Citizens United ruling and restore a democracy where everyone plays by the same set of rules and everyday people can make their voices heard.

So Friend, call your members of Congress and tell them: You must act to protect the freedom to vote and create a democracy that works for all of us.
