Team,

Remember last week when former Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant claimed that a victory for our Senate campaign would be “that first step into a thousand years of darkness?”

We just had to follow up and share what Joe Jurado from The Root had to say about it:

“Interesting word choice when describing the consequences of Mississippi electing its first black Senator in over 139 years. Even more interesting when you realize he’s doing this in support of Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith. Remember her? She was the lady that said she would be front row at a public lynching.”

Joe’s right: this loaded language is exactly what we need to leave behind in the past as we work to move Mississippi forward for everyone.

The only way we’re going to stop this hyper-partisan and divisive behavior from those in leadership is by voting them out of office -- and it starts with Cindy Hyde-Smith.

We’re coming up on our first fundraising deadline of the year tonight, and if we’re going to have what it takes to send Mike to Washington to usher in a brighter, united future for Mississippi, we need to hit our goal.

Will you pitch in $5, $10, or whatever you can afford to help us get there?
