This week marks the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, John.

We also mark the first year since its passage in 1973 that the Americans can no longer count on its protections. I would like to say a few words about what this moment means for our country and how we can move toward progress.

Last year, upon finding out that the Supreme Court had chosen to ignore settled law and overturn Roe v. Wade, I knew that this would be a devastating decision for our country.

In the time since Dobbs v. Jackson, millions of people across our country have suffered at the hands of extremists and their cruel, regressive agendas. Our headlines are a cycle of the latest state abortion ban, more unnecessary barriers to reproductive care, and so much more. Even in the House of Representatives, the GOP has already passed two anti-abortion bills in their first week of legislating.

We have been living in an America without Roe for nearly a year now. While times are difficult, we must not give up. Let me be as clear and firm as possible: I defended the right to choose during the Roe era, and I will continue to do everything I can to protect and expand the right to choose in the Dobbs era. Now, I ask that you join me.

Thank you,

Chris
