Dear John,
Today is National Religious Freedom Day, and we received some great news! I am currently at the White House with President Trump where he just announced three major actions to protect religious freedom.
Two of these actions are inspired by Trinity Lutheran v. Comer, a case ADF argued—and won—at the U.S. Supreme Court in 2017! And a case made possible thanks to your prayers and support.
Here are the three major actions President Trump is taking to protect your religious freedom, John:
- Ensuring Religious Organizations Are Treated the Same as Secular Ones.
- Requiring Public Schools to Respect Students’ Rights to Express Their Faith.
- Ordering That Federal Grant Programs Cannot Discriminate Against Religious Schools or Organizations.
The government cannot treat people of faith like second-class citizens. And President Trump’s announcement today makes that clear.
This is a great day for religious freedom and people of faith in America. And I hope you are as encouraged as I am, John.
At ADF, we know that when we show up and fight, we can win! And with God’s blessing, we have seen remarkable wins. Legal wins today last for more than a moment in a time. They impact freedom for years, decades, and hopefully for generations to come.
You helped us win Trinity Lutheran at the Supreme Court in 2017. And today, almost three years later, it’s still having a ripple effect.
But as exciting as today is, this is not time to sit back. It’s time to take action.
Those who oppose religious freedom are likely to fight these moves by President Trump. State legislators who are hostile to religious freedom are sure to look for new ways to discriminate against people of faith.
We need to be ready to turn back their efforts. Will you join us in the historic fight to protect religious freedom with a gift today?
Years of investment and hard work lead to victories. And those victories pay dividends.
This is a moment to celebrate, but not a moment to relax. Please give your best gift to defend freedom today.
Thank you for your generosity. |
