John,
Fifty years ago today, the Supreme Court handed down its decision in Roe v. Wade , protecting the right to an abortion and solidifying reproductive health care access as one of our fundamental freedoms.
And just a few months ago, today’s far-right majority-led Supreme Court overturned that decision — with disastrous, life-threatening consequences for millions of women.
Here in Arizona, we saw those consequences immediately. Abortion providers canceled appointments, our state’s Republicans voiced their support for criminalizing abortion, and a few weeks ago, the Arizona Court of Appeals decided to uphold our state’s 15-week abortion ban, placing Arizona women and medical care providers at risk.
As a social worker and as a domestic violence advocate, I’ve seen firsthand the impact of ripping away a woman’s decision to make her own reproductive health decisions.
Now, as Arizona’s 24th Governor, I’m committed to doing everything in my power to restore reproductive freedom in our state. I hope you’ll join me in raising your voice on this issue today: [[link removed]]

I will block any efforts to further restrict abortion in our state. But we’ve got a tough fight ahead of us: Just a few weeks ago, when I made that sentiment clear at my first State of the State address, Republicans in the legislature walked out.
It’s clearer than ever: Arizona Republicans are committed to rolling back our fundamental rights, and we must keep fighting back to restore the freedoms they stole from millions of women.
Thank you for speaking out with me today.
— Katie
