Congratulating the 2022 Congressional App Challenge Winners

Congratulations to Aarin and Aarav Dave who won first place in the 2022 Congressional App Challenge with their app Safeology!

Safeology is an app that authenticates registered parents or guardians in school buildings securely using API and QR codes. This protective measure was created to prevent unauthorized people from entering school buildings.

Their app will be featured on the U.S. House of Representatives website and displayed in an exhibit in the U.S. Capitol Building alongside winners from other participating Congressional Districts across the country.

It was an honor to recognize these talented students in Hahira last week. This is an annual competition, and I look forward to this year's app submissions!

Attending the Georgia Peanut Farm Show

I joined farmers at the Georgia Peanut Farm Show in Tifton to update them on my work in Congress with the House Agriculture Committee ahead of the upcoming Farm Bill.

Agriculture is the backbone of our state's economy, and peanut farmers play a vital role in Middle and South Georgia.

At the show, I heard from our local farmers about how we can better support them in Congress so they can continue leading the globe in peanut production.

Visiting Wiregrass Tech in Coffee County

I had a great time touring the Coffee County campus of Wiregrass Tech yesterday. I met students and faculty in a multitude of critical programs, such as Industrial Systems, Diesel Maintenance, Precision Machining, Welding, Paramedicine and EMT, and LPN.

I also met with local leaders, including Douglas Mayor Tony Paulk, County Commissioner Ted O’Steen, and Douglas-Coffee Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development CEO Matt Seale. My staff and I are excited to work for the constituents of Coffee County that are now part of GA-08.

Fox News | 'GOP reps blast DOJ for not watching Biden attorneys handling classified docs: ‘you can’t make this stuff up’

"Republican lawmakers reacted to the Department of Justice (DOJ) opting out of having the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) monitor President Biden's personal attorneys as they searched the president’s homes for Obama-era classified documents.

GOP Reps. Austin Scott of Georgia and Cory Mills of Florida reacted to a Wall Street Journal report that the DOJ had the FBI hold off on monitoring the president’s personal attorneys as they searched for classified documents.

'So the same people that sent an FBI tactical squad to search Mar-a-Lago and seize documents let Biden’s own lawyers search for classified documents at his residence?' Scott told Fox News Digital."

Agri-Pulse | Key House committee chairs bring ag backgrounds to posts

"A senior Republican on Ag, Austin Scott of Georgia, told Agri-Pulse he hopes the budget resolution provides the funding allocation needed to ensure commodity programs reflect the impact of increased input costs.

'I feel good about Jodey being there and, hopefully, the Budget Committee will give us a little bit of leeway to do some more things for the farmer,' said Scott, who is expected to chair Ag’s General Farm Commodities and Risk Management Subcommittee.

The House budget resolution likely can't pass the Democratic-controlled Senate, but Republicans have said they won’t agree to increase the debt ceiling unless Democrats agree to some new discipline on spending."
