Fifty years ago today, the Supreme Court established the constitutional right to abortion with the Roe v. Wade decision. This landmark decision was a major victory for reproductive rights.

But last summer, 50 years of precedent were overturned when the Supreme Court ruled on the Dobbs case, striking down Roe and ending the constitutional right to abortion in America. Republicans have spent years stacking the courts and passing extreme legislation in the states to get to this point – and they won't stop now. A national abortion ban is next. 

We need to fight back NOW. Will you help me hold Republicans accountable for their dangerous extremism? To stop a national abortion ban, we will need to defend our Democratic Senate majority and take back the House. Following the Supreme Court's barbaric decision, GOP-controlled state legislatures moved quickly to limit abortion rights. Thirteen states with "trigger laws" have banned abortion altogether. Overturning Roe was never the end goal – Republicans want to ban abortion completely. We have to make sure that the majority of Americans, who support keeping abortion legal, know who is coming for their rights.

In all of my time working as a reproductive rights advocate, including my tenure as president of Planned Parenthood, I have never seen a more dire moment for the future of our fundamental rights in America.

I am appalled by Republicans using their political power to take away our ability to make our own decisions about our bodies. And it will take unprecedented political activism to restore what is rightfully ours, including electing Democrats up and down the ballot and holding Republicans responsible for pushing these bans.

But we can't do this without your urgent support, friend.
