John,

On this day 50 years ago, the Supreme Court handed down their landmark decision in Roe v. Wade, legalizing abortion at the federal level and ruling that the Constitution protects the right to reproductive choice.

Sadly, after nearly five decades of legal precedent, Roe was overruled last year when the conservative-controlled Court rolled back the federal right to abortion, leaving it up to the states. It was a massive step backward for our country that has put the health of millions of women in jeopardy.

I made a promise to fight for every woman’s right to choose when I was running to represent NM-02 in Congress, and in my first few weeks in office, I’m already working to uphold that promise.

Far-right Republicans wasted no time in attacking reproductive rights this January, passing a rules package that would permanently ban the use of federal funds for abortion services, as well as a bill to criminalize doctors who perform abortions. I voted against both of these anti-choice pieces of legislation, because I believe this sensitive decision belongs to a woman and her doctor, not far-right politicians.

Today’s anniversary of Roe is a reminder that we must recommit ourselves to the fight for reproductive justice and work to restore women’s right to choose at the federal level. If you’re with me, add your name to show your support for reproductive rights today.

Thank you,
