I am still angry, outraged, and disappointed.

50 years ago today, the Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States conferred the right to choose.

In the decades that followed, our government recognized the right to have an abortion, giving millions of people the ability to make their own personal decisions about their healthcare, their family, and their future.

But seven months ago, the same judicial body that gave us this right decided to turn back the clock and overturned Roe v. Wade

Instantly, 13 states enacted complete abortion bans. Here in Wisconsin, we went back to a law from 1849, an abortion ban Wisconsin Democrats are working hard to repeal.

Anti-choice politicians and judges feel entitled to make important healthcare choices on behalf of women — that’s just wrong. The Supreme Court’s decision last June not only stripped us from the right to an abortion, but it also left room for states to enact legislation punishing women and their doctors for seeking or providing abortions.

I am still angry, outraged, and disappointed, but know this: I will not give up the fight and neither should you. We will continue working and marching forward together in this fight for our fundamental rights, our values, and our freedom.

Earlier this week, my team reached out to you asking you to sign our petition to restore our fundamental right to reproductive healthcare access. In light of the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we want to add another 500 signatures before the end of the day to send a clear message: We will not stand idly by as our rights are taken away.

So friend, will you please add your name to our petition today?

The only way to protect abortion rights nationwide is to codify Roe v. Wade.

I’ve fought long and hard to pass legislation that will restore and protect the freedom of women to make their own personal, healthcare decisions. My Women’s Health Protection Act and Reproductive Health Travel Fund Act will do just that by helping people across the country access the care they need and deserve without repercussions.

We must pass these bills in the Senate as soon as possible — add your name to our petition today and show our government you support nationwide access to abortion care.

Let’s fight for our right to choose. Thanks for standing with me.
